Our Value

Our members collectively host over 7,000 meetings, conventions, exhibitions and related events per year, of which 55% are meetings, 10% are conventions, 5% trade or consumer shows and 30% are social, cultural or special events. CC of C members together generate well over $2 billion in annual economic impact and collectively employ over 2600 full and part time staff. In addition, they support employment in many supplier companies that provide supplies and services to their centres.

Canada's convention centres support the local hospitality industry by generating additional visitors, in the form of delegates, who would not necessarily visit otherwise. The impacts of these delegates are significant, given that their spending is typically about 3-4 times as much as other visitors. This spending is widely dispersed, from hotel accommodation to restaurants and from retail to entertainment and visiting local attractions.

But the benefits generated by Canada's convention centres don't stop with economic and employment impacts. By hosting a wide variety of meetings, conferences, conventions and exhibitions they also generate a broad range of professional, business, research, academic and cultural benefits for their respective communities. In particular, they are major facilitators of economic development and investment, and are supportive of economic growth and recovery.
