Edmonton Convention Centre

Inspired by Edmonton, the Edmonton Convention Centre houses the spirit of Canada’s fifth-largest city and connects a thriving downtown metropolis to North America’s largest urban parkland.

Community connections
Recognized as one of North America’s top five performing venues, the centre brings people together to learn, innovate, trade and celebrate. The Edmonton Convention Centre is committed to creating connections–to the community, to the land, to local culture and to others.
The sustainable venue is built into the foundation of downtown Edmonton’s river valley and is managed by an award-winning team that connects to the land through sustainable business practices and dedication to locally-sourced and inspired cuisine. As a community hub, the centre fosters a culture of giving back and connects with the community through social programs and a commitment to people.
Hosting nearly 650 events and half a million guests each year, their team of experts focuses on attracting meetings and conventions to downtown Edmonton within the vertical sectors of advanced manufacturing, education, health and life sciences, information technology and oil and gas. Planners can expect a remarkable experience as guests celebrate everything from intimate gatherings to private banquets, ethnic weddings, social galas, graduations, corporate parties and concerts.
Taste the difference local makes
Anyone who has dined at Edmonton’s convention centre knows the farm-to-table experience speaks for itself. Executive Chef Serge Belair is at the wheel of a well-oiled machine that employs 30 cooks and 11 Red Seal chefs. The culinary team creates every dish in-house with food grown by the community for the community.
Sixty percent of the food purchased by the centre features partnerships with local producers to reduce the environmental impacts of food production and support the local economy. Artisan meats from Meuwly’s and traditional cheese curds from Old School Cheesery often make their way onto charcuterie boards, while fresh produce from Erdmann’s Garden & Greenhouse or Forest Scene Farms can be found in salads and vegetable dishes.
With one of Canada’s largest commercial kitchens, the internationally experienced team prepares 250,000 meals each year. They serve everything from intimate dinners of five to grand galas of 5,000, with quality and artistry on every plate.
“The team at the Edmonton Convention Centre have honed their craft and specialize in large events–it sets them apart. Their kitchen proves that planners can have both quality and quantity. The convention centre has been a leader in supporting local food businesses and re-connecting people with their food to ensure there is a strong community from the farm all the way to the table.”

Sustainability matters
A growing demand for sustainable venues coupled with the venue’s existing commitment to sustainability positions Edmonton as an attractive destination for progressive events. From the inaugural international Cities and Climate Change Science Conference to the UN Women’s Safe Cities Global Forum, conventions focused on sustainability are choosing Edmonton as their destination.
The centre’s in-house sustainability manager works closely with clients at the beginning of the planning process to ensure their sustainability goals are both attainable and measurable. In addition to helping clients minimize their environmental impact, the venue does its part to support the future of sustainable events.
The Edmonton Convention Centre is the first venue of its kind in Canada to receive Green Key level five certification and one of only five venues in Canada to receive the prestigious ASTM International Certification. In 2017, the centre’s on-site waste management and composting program diverted over 250,000 pounds of waste from landfill, and they composted over 200,000 pounds of food which resulted in a 67% waste diversion rate. On-site, guests will find an urban beehive, Monarch butterfly preserve, Indigenous Medicine Wheel garden and an indoor atrium with hundreds of plants.

Welcoming the world to Edmonton
The venue plays an important role in enhancing the city’s reputation with warm hospitality and attention to detail. In 2018, it was recognized by the International Association of Venue Managers (IAVM) as one of North America’s top five performing venues–the only Canadian convention venue to receive this honour since 2012.
Entrenched in downtown’s core, guests find themselves steps away from the city’s best hotels and restaurants. Event planners can customize spaces to fit the occasion, with 150,000 square feet spread over three levels. The Riverview Room for moderate-sized groups, salons for smaller gatherings and Hall D for large events provide stunning views of the city’s river valley. In addition, the venue has over 80,000 sq. feet of adaptable exhibit hall space.
